Update on getting games ready to ship
almost 3 years ago – Sat, Dec 04, 2021 at 01:21:30 AM

Here is a photo of Dana (on left), David Ells (you may remember him from my Update #57 November post), and my domestic partner Anne Merritt (on right) getting the games packed with bubble wrap and individual shipping boxes. The last step is printing address labels, affixing them to the boxes, and taking them to the Post Office.

We got 156 games (of 558 orders) ready by today (Friday). I will be typing labels all weekend and taking the first batch of games to the Post Office on Monday December 6.

We will continue to prepare games for shipping and send them out this month as quickly as possible. Hopefully, all USA Kickstarter and BackerKit customers should receive their games before Christmas. All other countries may arrive before the end of the year.

We will keep everyone updated.

Games are being packed in bubble wrap and into individual shipping boxes as fas as possible!

I've had help from friends, but this is still a one-man operation. (Rodger MacGowan lives in southern California while I am up in the San Francisco Bay area.)

As quickly as I can get the games ready and labeled I will be taking them to the US Post Office for US and Canadian backers.

Copies for backers outside the USA will be sent in bulk cartons to our representatives in the UK (for Great Britain and EU) and New Zealand (for NZ and Australia). These will then be repacked into individual shipping boxes and put into local delivery services.

The add-on items will be inside the game boxes or shipping boxes, so they just need to weighed, labeled, and sent.

We are trying out best to deliver the games before or right after Christmas.

Thanks for your patience and support!

600 copies of The Great War were assembled this past weekend
about 3 years ago – Mon, Nov 08, 2021 at 11:00:01 PM

In the photo background below, that's Dana on the far right and his friend and colleague David Ells on the left. In the foreground that's 600 of the 1,100 copies of MacGowan & Lombardy's THE GREAT WAR card game that were assembled this past weekend November 6-7.

David not only supported the Kickstarter, he helped promote it to his various Facebook groups. And for only a few lunches and dinners as compensation, he helped Dana assemble the games. David truly is someone who lives up to the Yiddish word "mensch" – someone to admire and emulate, someone of noble character.

As quickly as I can, I will be typing addresses onto labels to send out the games. Guess who volunteered to help me bubblewrap the games and pack them into individual shipping boxes?

I can't guarantee everyone will get their games before (US) Thanksgiving. However, depending on your address in the USA or Canada, the games should arrive around Christmas or (hopefully) before the end of 2021. It will probably be early 2022 for backers in other countries to see their games.

THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORT & PATIENCE!

The rest of the finished game components have been delivered!

Dana is shown below with some of the 20+ boxes that just arrived with the final, printed components for the WW1 card game.

A "crew" (Dana & one friend) will be spending this coming weekend November 6-7 placing the components into the game boxes along with the dice, etc. Next week we will pack the games and add-on items into individual shipping cartons and deliver them to the US Postal Service.

More photos and updates soon!

Final printing and die-cutting to be done the week of October 18-22
about 3 years ago – Sun, Oct 17, 2021 at 11:31:08 AM

The printer informed me yesterday that the last items to be printed for The Great War card game should be on the press next week, including cutting the Battle Mat that must be die-cut for the individual perforated markers to keep track of which side won the Turn. There are also markers to keep track of how many cumulative captured battle points each side has at the end of each Turn.

Although the game is printed in the USA, shortages in paper and workers added to the delays. Many of you may have seen what supply chain shortages look like in our local stores – see the photo below. These shortages begin at the manufacturing level as key items became scarcer.

The good news is that the game will be finished this month and we can begin final assembly and shipping as soon as we receive the cartons from the printer.

I will post weekly updates to let everyone know what our current stage is.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE & SUPPORT!

The game will be finished this month despite supply chain shortages.
